Y-U-S Line |
This is the line that started the system in 1954. The line started from Union Station to Eglinton. Since then the line has been made into a large 'U' serving downtown. The original section was about 50-50 in subway and open cut. Since then, some of the open-cut has been built over. The extensions to the north are in subway. The University section is all underground. This section runs in the median of Allen Road before heading to Downsview.
Transfers to the Bloor-Danforth line may be made at Bloor, St. George & Spadina (long walk). Transfers to streetcars include 2 underground connections at Spadina and Union Station.
