I use to go the Manhattan College which is at the end of the #1 Line at Van Cortlandt Park. Even today when I go to the city, I park in this neighborhood to take the subway in. The elevated section in the Bronx and upper Manhattan have classic control houses. The 168th & 181st St. Stations have wonderful arched roofs. The high 125th St elevated station spans Manhattan Valley. 96th St is a classic transfer station. Times Square is a busy location. You can still see the original connection to the original line just north of the station. Sadly the old South Ferry Terminal with its great curved platform is closed, replaced by a new 2 track terminal. If you can't guess, this is my favorite subway route!
