Market-Frankford El

The El

This line is shaped in an "L". It was built in two different stages. First was the Market St line built by the PTC. Later the city built the Frankford line and linked the two. At one time there was a branch to the Delaware river, but it was closed after Camden ferry service ended. The El line is two tracks. To increase speed the line uses A/B skip stop service during rush hours.

SEPTA has been working on totally rebuilding the elevated portions of this line. The Frankford section is complete. Work on the Market St section is in progress.
