Riverfront Line

Riverfront

The Riverfront line was the first "new" line in New Orleans opening in 1911. It was first a converted freight line using Perley-Thomas cars converted to standard gauge. Later the line was re-gauged to New Orleans wide gauge so the cars could be inter-changed and have access to the main shops in 1997.
