US East Transit > Philadelphia > Red Arrow Lines
Norristown Route 100

Philadelphia

Route 100 is better known as the Philadelphia & Western (P&W) line to Norristown. It runs between Norristown and 69th St in Upper Darby. At one time there was a branch to Stafford. The line is a unique and high speed line. There are no grade crossings. Power is via 3rd rail, and the curves are super-elevated for speed. This line was famous for the Brill "Bullet" cars that were finally retired in the 1990's. The newer cars (N5's) are fast as well, but some say not as fast as the Bullets ever were. This is a very fun and pretty line to ride. A must for any traction fan!!
