Yellow Line

The "L"

The Yellow line is basically a high speed shuttle, often called the Skokie Swift. The line starts at Dempster St in Skokie on the old North Shore right-of-way. It ends at Howard St on the Red Line. Passengers change at Howard St to go to the City. This lines does not operate on weekends.

Up until September 2004 Yellow Line trains had to be equipped with pantographs as 2/3 of the line was under wire with no 3rd rail. The overhead wire is now gone, with 3rd rail extended into Skokie. There is serious talks about extending this line.
