Midway Airport

The Orange Line is Chicago's newest 'L' line opening in the mid-1990's. It is the second CTA route to connect a Chicago Airport to downtown. The line starts at Midway Airport. From the Airport passengers must walk through the parking garage to access the CTA station. From the Airport the Line follows various Railroad right-of-way, including paralleling an Amtrak route. The line then goes over the Red Line. A connecting ramp from the Red Line connects with the Orange (This ramp was built for the Dan Ryan Line when it went via the loop). Soon the line joins the Green Line on the South Side 'L'. It enters the loop, operating in the clockwise rotation before heading back to the Airport.
