Green Line

Tower 18 outbound Green Line

The Green Line combines the old Lake Street 'L' and the South Side 'L' lines into a through route. This line had been closed for 2 years in the late 1990's for a major renovation. To the west the line starts in Oak Park along side a mainline RR right-of-way. It later operates over Lake St for its run to the Loop. It uses the Lake and Wabash side of the loop, then heads south. The line splits south of 58th St (closed station), with one branch going to Cottage Grove (old Jackson Park Branch) the other to Ashland (old Englewood branch).
