Central US Transit -> Las Vegas
Monorail

Las Vegas

Monorails are not for theme parks anymore! Although some may question Las Vegas as being a theme park. The Monorail started as a hotel link between MGM Grand and Bally's. A private consortium expanded the line along the backside of hotels on the east side of the strip. The technology used is nearly identical to monorails operating at Walt Disney World. Fares are a bit steep at $5 one-way, $9 RT. This has led to lower than expected ridership. However it is much faster than driving the strip. The only drawback that with the exception of the LV Hilton, it is a long walk to the front of hotels.

Recently a green light was given to extend the monorail to the airport. There are also plan to extend the line northward. This will change the monorail from novelty to a true transit option!
