Catania is located on the southeast coast of Sicily. It is about 100 kilometers south of the ferries in Messina to the mainland. I had a business trip to Catania in early 2000. I was very surprised to find that Catania maintains a small metro line.

Catania is the terminal for a narrow gauge railway that nearly makes a full loop around the volcano, Mt. Etna.
