Streetcar |
Portland again has on a unique project for this very livable city, the
Portland Streetcar. This line is not like the MAX light rail line. The
modern trolley cars on this line share the right of way with other
vehicles much as the streetcars of yore. The first line linked Portland
State Univ. with the trendy NW Portland. The line was extended twice
southwards to new south waterfront district. In 2012 a new line opened
to serve the inner East Side of Portland on the other side of the
Willamette River. Eventually this line will become a loop. There is
still consideration for further lines around the city.
