Dresden

Dresden is unique in that it has freight service on its tram track. VW built the "transparent" factory just east of downtown, while the logistics center is by the rail yards on the west side of downtown. The solution was to build two cargo trams to haul parts to the factory. The two trams cycle between the two points a few times a day. They run on the normal tram trackage, typically thru Postplatz, the hub of the tram system. Although if there is a lot of tram congestion, the CarGoTram has multiple routing possibilities.
