Earl's Court Tube Entrance |
We arrived at Gatwick
on a Thursday morning. We rode the express Connex train from Gatwick
to London's Victoria Station. The Connex train was cheaper than the
Gatwick express and only took 3 extra minutes (however the trains were
dirtier and more crowded). We had our pictures made at a photo
booth at Victoria, so that we were able to purchase a 7 day London
Transport Travel Card. With this accomplished we took our first
Underground ride on a District Line train to Earl's Court Station.
Walked then about 2 blocks to our hotel.

The Albany Hotel |
The Albany Hotel was
slightly run down, but we had 4 twin beds in a rather large side room
with a water closet and tub/shower. After taxes we paid less than $600
for 5 nights, a pretty good deal for this pricey city especially with
4 adults! The other great part is being in Earl's Court we had a
choice the District and Piccadilly underground lines. There were also
several restaurants to choose from. Earl's Court is better known as
Kangaroo alley for all the Aussie's that stay there, but we found it
to be a great place to stay, and would choose this neighborhood again.
Our first night there
we went to Harrods before it closed. We then ate at an inexpensive
breakfast shop at Earl's Court. We were pretty tired and wanted just
to eat and go to bed.
