WES |
The newest transit type for the Portland Metro area, Commuter Rail. The marketing name for the line is WES, for Westsider or Westside Express Service. This is an unique commuter line as it operates suburb to suburb only.
The line start at Wilsonville to the south. It parallels I-5 until Tigard, then it parallels very busy OR-217. The line ends at the Beaverton Transit Center. The line is on the old Oregon Electric line that is an active freight line. In Beaverton it breaks away from the old OE to head to BTC along new street trackage.
Service currently runs every 30 minutes during the morning and evening rush hours only using DMU's built by the now defunct Colorado Railcar
