Park-n-Ride No Transit Center No
City Portland Right of Way Bridge

This is NOT a station, but it is the hub for the MAX system. ALL MAX line lines cross this bridge. The Bridge itself was opened in 1910. It is a unique telescoping lift bridge. The lower level is used by Union Pacific Trains heading to Portland Union Station. The lower level can be raised separate from the upper level. The upper level has two outside traffic lanes, and the 2 inner lanes are now reserved for MAX trains only. To the west of the bridge the tracks split between the Transit Mall branch and the Original Mainline. One the east side of the bridge, the tracks split between the north Interstate branch, and the Original Mainline. Steel Bridge is featured in my Portland Bridges section
