Point of Interest Tri-Met Merlo bus garage, former connection to P&W Railroad.

Just east of this station is a connection with the Portland & Western Railroad. The connection is NOT permanent for FRA regulations. This connection is only used to accept delivery of new LRV's as they arrive. For the original Bombardier cars were delivered to Ruby Jct via the Portland traction, but that line was torn up in the early 90's, necessitating this connection. UPDATE: 1/2009, the connection is now gone, P&W is ripping up all the tracks in the area.
