MUNI Metro

This is the heart of MUNI Metro. This subway portion shows the true versatility of Light rail with a high-speed high-volume subway. Boeing cars could run up to 4 car trains, Breda cars are limited to 3 car trains due to platform length at Forest Park and West Portal, and the door arrangements on the cars. The Subway was converted to ATC a couple of years ago. This allows for more trains per hour than the old block system. It also reduced the need to couple/de-couple trains at West Portal & Dobuce Portal

The K/L/M lines use the entire subway. The J/N run between Van Ness and Embarcadero. The T-Line is through-routed with the K in the subway.
