This is a brand new commuter line in Tokyo linking the Science park of Tsukuba with Tokyo at Akihibara. Until the Narita Sky access line opened in 2010, the Tsukuba was the fastest non-Shinkansen line in Japan (and narrow gauge at that) with a top speed of 160 kmh. The line uses two set of equipment as the inner portion runs on a different voltage then the outer portion of the line. I had the luck of having to visit a customer in Tsukuba so I got to ride the entire line on the express in 2010.
