DAY 5: Yellowstone Canyon and Falls

Bison

We started the day at about 9:00am. We were soon treated a wonderful view of Bison all over a huge meadow. There must have been at least 1000 bison throughout this area. Some were really close to the road. But beware, Bison make look docile, but more people are injured by Bison per year than any other wildlife in Yellowstone!

Upper Falls

Then we were off to look at the waterfalls. First stop was the Upper falls on the Yellowstone River. From here we hiked to the top of the Upper Falls. Mark and Richard took Uncle Toms trail to the bottom of the falls. That was a strenuous climb back up.

Lower Falls

From there we drove to a better view of the Lower Falls, which are much taller than the upper falls. We did more driving around to get more views of the Lower Falls, and the Grand Canyon of Yellowstone. The colors on the canyon walls was fantastic!

Grand Canyon

From the Canyon we drove around to the North end of Yellowstone, pausing at Mammoth Hot Spring. We drove back south to the Norris Geyser basin, and then on back to the RV site, stopping for dinner at Canyon Village Lodge. It was a very long day!

Continue to Day 6: Leaving Yellowstone.
