The metro of Lyon is frequent, fast and efficient. The system continues to grow. There are four lines. Three are rubber tired, the fourth is a rack railway for a part of its length.

Charpennes to Gare d'Oullins | The line connects with the city's main railway station (Part-Dieu). It is undergoing converstion to automation, and is rubber-tired. |

Hotel de Ville to Cuire | This line was oringally a rack line between 2 stations. It was extended to Hotel De Ville to link with Line A, and extended the other direction. The line remains a rack railway between Hotel De Ville and Croix-Rousse, then it is a simple rail adhesion railway. |

Gare de Vaise to Gare de Venissieux | This is the newest line with some of the most pleasent stations. The line is an automated rubber-tired metro. |
