Auckland is located at the northern part of the North Island. It is New Zealand's largest city. It had let is public transport system decline from the 1950-1990s with a focus on cars. Tram were abandoned early on. By the early 2000s, the focused changed to look at public transport to increase mobility. The commuter rail system has been undergoind a transformation with the opening of Britomart station in central city, and the electrification of the different line. Constuction is underway to creat an underground railway loop thru downtown. The future is looking bright!
