Light Rail

Manchester Light Rail system is the largest in the United Kingdom. There are 7 different line running around the region all converging in center city. 6 of th 7 lines funnel thru St. Peter's Square. In 2016 a second line opened thru the city center to improve tram throughput in the city.

Althought the system started in 1992, they already replaced their original trams. There had been a plan to use former San Francisco MUNI Boeing LRVs during early expansion. 2 cars were brought over, but modifiactions were not worth the investment.

With trams serving the airport this system is useful for tourists getting around town.

Only stations visited during my one afternoon stop in Manchester are featured here
