Sub-Surface Train

The sub-surface lines are part of the original section of underground railway opening in 1863. The East London line uses a oldest tunnel under The Thames. It was originally opened as a pedestrian tunnel. The rolling stock is considered full size, especially when compared to the tube lines. The surface lines intermix all along the Circle Line, except for the East London. The Hammersmith & City, Metropolitan and Circle share trackage on the northern leg of the Circle. The District shares the southern and western legs.
