Europe > United Kingdom > Edinburgh

Edinburgh has one modern tram line, so most of the transit needs of the city are served by buses. Although they are managed by one entity, there are actually several different bus operators. This lead to a variety of buse liveries. Many are double-decker, but there a few routes served by single level buses.

Then there are the tourist hop-on/hop-off buses. Edinburgh is the first city that I have found that you can buy a ticket to just one compnay, or one ticket that is valid on all the different hop-on/hop-off companies. Each one of the 4 different companies offer different routes and "flavors" .Very enjoyable for a tourist. You don't have to worry about getting on a bus that your ticket is not valid for.
