Beantown still uses tokens in this modern age of using farecards. I have photos of what you will ride after you pay your fare on the Boston Transit Photos Page.

 
These tokens were bought on a visit in 1987. Very bland, both sides are the same. These tokens were bought in 1995. They added an image of a subway car and the famous "T"
