Nagano Olympics Train Station In 1998, Japan hosted the World Winter Olympics in Nagano. Nagano is about 1.5 hours from Tokyo by Shinkansen (bullet train). This train line was opened just 6 months before the Olympics, otherwise the same trip was over 3 hours! The photo seen here is inside the train station. I managed to get to Nagano on the closing day of the Olympics. I did not see any events, but did see a medal ceremony and the craziness of sports fans!
