Columbia Gorge |
The Columbia River
Gorge is a treasure to behold. The wonderful waterfalls and scenery
are just grand. The Mighty Columbia River carve out these mountains
eons ago. Don't take I-84, take the old Columbia River Highway (not
recommended for large vehicles). Be sure to stop at Bonneville Dam and
see the impressive locks and fish ladders. At Cascade Locks take a
sternwheeler cruise...
And of course, stop at Oregon's #1 tourist attraction, Multnomah
Falls!

Mt
Hood as viewed from near Portland Airport. It is a gorgeous
mountain/volcano. Glaciers on it year round. There is skiing from November
until March, with glacier skiing often up to June/July. (12/00) |
Multnomah
Falls in the Columbia Gorge is the top tourist attraction in the state. The
fall are wonderful, just off of I-84. However I recommend using the Scenic
Columbia Gorge Highway (Old US30) to get there (as long as your not driving
an RV). (6/00) |
