ANAHEIM TRANSIT > Disneyland
Red Car Trolley

Disneyland

The Red Car Trolley is a new addition to Disney California Adventure. It add kinetic nature to the park similar to the Main St. Vehicles in Disneyland. There are 2 trolleys in operation, #623 and #717. Both are creative replicas of the former Pacific Electric Hollywood cars of the 600 & 700 series. #623 represents the month and year Walt arrived in California (June 1923). #717 represents opening day of Disneyland (July 17th 1955)

The trolleys start at the entrance to the Park on Buena Vista Street. They go around Carthay Circle onto Hollywood Blvd. Then turn to head towards the Hollywood Tower Hotel. The trolleys are equipped with Trolley poles that run on actual trolley wire. However, the trolley wire is not live. The trolleys run on batter power. They recharge via inductive coils at Buena Vista Street, and I believe at the Hotel stop. I was told that the trolley pole does need to contact the wire for the trolleys to operate. The trolleys are equipped with bells and a PE air whistle (E-flat). They do run slow, and service is sporadic due to shows at Carthay Circle. But they are very fun
