Tohoku

The Tohoku line runs from Tokyo to Aomori pretty far north in Japan. IT then connects to the Hokkaido Shinkansen which goes thru the Seiken Tunnel to Shin-Hakadote. It is the longest Shinkansen line in the system. Several other Shinkansen lines branch off of this mainline, including the Hokuriku (Nagano), Joetsu, Yamagata and Akita.
