Hokuriku Line

This line was the Nagano line that opened in time for the 1998 Winter Olympics in Nagano. It splits off of the Joetsu line at Takasaki. This is currently a short Shinkansen line. The line was extended in 2015 to Toyama and Kanazawa. At that time it was renamed the Hokuriku Line. Further extension is under construction to Tsuruga. There are alos plans to extend it further to Shin-Osaka.
