This station first opened in 1896 by the Northern Pacific Terminal
Company. Before Amtrak, The Southern Pacific, Union Pacific and
Burlington Northern operated the station. In 1987 the Portland
Development Commission took over the station leading to a full
restoration in 1996 and reconfiguration in 2004.
Currently the station is served by Amtrak trains: Coast Starlight,
Empire Builder and several Cascades. Nearby is the MAX Green/Yellow
Light Rail lines, Greyhound bus terminal and Portland Transit Mall.
