LA Subway

This is the first section of subway that opened in Los Angeles. It heralded a new era of rail transit in the LA basin. However, the Blue Light Rail Line opened prior to the Red Line, which brought the return of rail transit to Los Angeles.

The trunk line starts at Union Station then crosses through the heart of downtown Los Angeles. The original end of the line was Macarthur Park. The trunk line ends at Vermont/Wilshire where the Wilshire and Hollywood branches diverge. At one time the line was to extend east to East LA, however that area will now be served by an extension of the Gold Light Rail Line sometime in the future.
